This year I’ve joined Pitch Up – a growing network of farmers across the UK who are opening up their land to welcome rural entrepreneurs with big ideas.
At Gentle Farming, we’ve always believed in collaboration, and Pitch Up is a natural extension of that. It connects landowners like me with people who want to start nature-friendly, land-based businesses – whether it’s growing food, starting a flower farm, launching an outdoor experience, or anything in between.
For me, getting involved was a no-brainer.

Why Pitch Up? Because farms need to diversify – and we can’t do it all alone.
As a farmer, I know that the future of our land depends on building resilient, diverse businesses. But I also know I can’t be an expert in everything. That’s why working with passionate people who bring their own skills and ideas is not just exciting – it’s essential.
I love working with start-ups. I already collaborate with a range of innovative businesses across food, tech, and sustainability, and I get a real buzz from seeing new ideas take root and grow. If you’re someone with a vision for working on the land, I want to hear from you.
Opening the gate to opportunity
Pitch Up is all about making farming more accessible. Too often, people with brilliant land-based ideas are locked out because they don’t own land or have the capital to get started. This initiative helps break down those barriers – creating space for fresh thinking, new models, and practical action.
At Gentle Farming, we’re offering part of our farm as a launchpad for the next generation of rural entrepreneurs. Whether it’s a small plot to trial an idea, or a collaborative venture to build something longer-term, we’re open.
Let’s build the future of farming – together
This isn’t just about extra income – it’s about reshaping what modern farming looks like. By working together, we can build more dynamic, diverse, and regenerative farm businesses that support communities, nature, and the rural economy.
So, if you’re a start-up or entrepreneur with a business idea that needs land, support, or a partner – get in touch. Let’s have a chat and see what we can grow.
